Foundation awards over 100 grants to artists and nonprofit organizations as it celebrates four decades of transformative support for visual artists and arts organizations
New York, NY, July 31, 2025 – Today, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation announces that it awarded $3,262,000 to 107 artists and nonprofit organizations during its July 2024–June 2025 grant cycle, providing essential support to artists in the United States and around the world. This year’s grant cycle includes grantees from 14 countries and 21 U.S. states, representing a broad geographic range. Recipients hail from locations such as Hawaii and New Mexico as well as Switzerland, Canada, and South Korea, among others. Marking a major milestone this year, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary— proudly honoring four decades of supporting artists worldwide, made possible by the bold foresight and enduring legacy of Lee Krasner, a trailblazer of Abstract Expressionism.
In the four decades since its founding in 1985, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation has awarded more than 5,200 grants totaling over $93 million in 80 countries. Through its grants to exceptional visual artists and nonprofit organizations, as well as its prizes—including the Lee Krasner Award and Pollock Prize for Creativity—the Foundation provides unrestricted funding directly to professional artists internationally, empowering them to advance their practices. With the critical financial support and recognition these grants confer, PKF grantees have experimented with different forms of media in their work, mounted exhibitions, secured new studio spaces, and pursued pivotal opportunities. In addition to providing grants to artists, the Foundation has furthered scholarship and supported exhibitions that illuminate the lives and work of Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock, ensuring that their legacies as pioneering figures in 20th- century art continue to inspire future generations.
“As we celebrate the Pollock-Krasner Foundation’s 40th anniversary this year, we are thrilled to award over three million dollars in grants to an extraordinary array of artists and organizations that serve artists directly,” said Caroline Black, Executive Director of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. “These unrestricted grants are a direct reflection of Lee Krasner’s singular vision to support working artists, allowing them not only to create, but to truly thrive. By offering this vital resource to the visual arts community, we honor the legacies of both Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock, enabling today’s artists to innovate with the same trailblazing spirit.”
To augment the work of nonprofit cultural institutions who provide direct support to artists, the Pollock- Krasner Foundation has awarded grants to 22 organizations. Nonprofits that have received grants include Art Omi in Ghent, NY, in support of its artist-in-residence program; ArtTable in New York, NY, in support of its Artist Talk Series; Creative Capital in New York, NY, in support of the Creative Capital Artist Lab; Fundación Callia in Madrid, Spain, to support a number of programs, including the Art for Equality Initiative; New York Foundation for the Arts in New York, NY, to support their programming and online resources; and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in New York, NY, for its Charles C. Bergman Fellowship. The Foundation also provided support for the exhibition catalogue for the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza’s upcoming presentation Warhol, Pollock, and Other American Spaces, opening October 21, 2025, in Madrid, Spain.
